Formed in the 1980s from the ashes of the former 55 that closed many years prior. Like a Phoenix, it rose to become a very viable and valuable asset of the Veterans of Mercer County. We meet the third tuesday of every month (barring noted changes) at Sharon, PA VFW Post 1338, 439 East State Street, Sharon, PA 16146. Meetings start at 7:00 P.M.

Another finds the "Kilroy was Here" At the WWII Memorial.

Vincent looked for a Ceremony that was in PA to remember Sgt. Matt Maupin of Batavia, Ohio. He is the only Service Person captured and not back yet from the Iraq War. He has been gone since 9 Apr 04. Having found none, the PA DAV POW/MIA Committee was given permission to put one together in Matt's honor.  You  can visit his Support site by clicking on the url below :

Speakers were DAV #55 Commander Vincent Darcangelo, Mercer County Veterans Affairs Director Gary Solander, County Commissioner Michele Brooks, Jim Bailey- Commander of the Veterans advisory Council, PA Sen. Bob Robbins with the National Anthem sung by SFC (ret.) Tim McCall.

Major Larry Scheetz and his wife were present. Maj. Scheetz is a Vietnam Veteran as well as of Desert Storm and the Iraq War. He came home from Iraq last fall and is slated to return this June. We wish him and his loved ones well. His wife is VERY active in the Support groups.
